Richard Evans is senior vice president of capital execution at GridLiance, an independent transmission company that partners with electric cooperatives, municipal utilities, and others. Evans is responsible for GridLiance’s transmission capital programs as the company expands its national footprint and invests in improving the reliability and resiliency of the grid.
Prior to joining GridLiance in July 2019, Evans served as senior vice president of engineering and construction at Panda Power Funds, a private equity firm that develops, constructs and operates large gas combined cycle power plants throughout the United States. There he developed and managed a team of up to 65 employees, overseeing principal elements of projects during the development phase and all aspects during the construction and commissioning phases. Prior to being promoted to this role in 2011, he managed a number of development and construction projects first as director of project development and construction and then as senior vice president of project development.
He moved to Panda in February 2007 from Alcoa World Alumina, where he was responsible for calciner best practice transfer across all of Alcoa’s alumina refineries worldwide.
Evans began his career working as a civil engineer at Kier Group plc, one of the United Kingdom’s largest construction, services and property groups. During his 18-year tenure with the organization, he worked in a variety of project construction roles and managed large-scale, multi-million-dollar domestic and international construction projects.
Evans earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom. He is a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) and a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE), professional engineering qualifications in the United Kingdom.
